A Very Happy Labor Day Weekend !

Happy Labor Day!

Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday in September in any given year to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States.

My husband and I month were blessed to have a three day weekend together.  We really didn’t do anything special, just a few necessary chores around the house and then today we popped into Home Depot (again) and brought home a few more veggies to plant. Not shown in the photo below is another Early Girl tomato plant and kitchen sage. It’s still too hot to officially plant those shown below, so my game plan is to take them out during the day until the sun just about reaches them on our patio table, then bring them in until the sun sets and then take them back outside.  If I planted them right now, they would burn up. I’m excited about trying the zucchini and spaghetti squash, I haven’t tried growing these plants before and look forward to seeing how they do in our little container garden area.

Zucchini, Spaghetti Squash, Cucumbr and Cilantro

We also popped into Lowes and I came home with a Echinacea that was in the area where they have plants that are not doing well and are marked down to nothing.  This guy just needed water and this evening will be planted in a pot next to the patio.  I plan to get another one later to pot in one of the pots on our back wall that I shared earlier.

In the mail I received two of my favorite magazines, Spin-off and Mary Jane’s Farm.  Both are great issues and I’m looking forward to sitting down and reading them both.

I have also worked quite a bit on my Worsted Boxy sweater and have finished the front portion and now almost ready to finish the back portion.  All I will have left is the neckline and sleeves.  I’m really excited about this sweater!!!

Sorry the photo isn’t better, but you get the idea.

So I must say I’m ending our time together on a good note and look forward to only have a four day work week.

Until next time, be creative!
Tina

  1. It's so wonderful that you had a lovely long weekend and YEAH for the new plants!
I really love the colour of your boxy, by the way, grey is so easy to style and while I haven't made it for myself, so many peope are raving about theirs! I bet you love yours once it's done.

(Also understand your joy about the magazines, by the way, I have ONE issue of Spin Off which was gifted to me and it's a fantastic magazine throughout. Super inspiring and informative.) Do you spin on a wheel or do you use spindles?

    1. Thank so much Julia and I’m super excited about new plants. I am really happy with my Boxy and agree about Grey, it goes with everything! I spin on a wheel and find it very soothing. Spindles and I just don’t get along.
