Friday Catch Up

I simply cannot believe it’s the last day of July !!  This year has been speeding by and it seems like I haven’t really accomplished too much.  Life has been challenging this year, and I have felt a little out of sorts when it comes to my crafting endeavors.  I have way too many loves and just not enough time to do everything I want to do.

Meanwhile I have been knitting a little more and this has rekindled my excitement of casting on new things.

Off the Needles ....

I have been on a sock knitting kick the last two months and have finished two pairs of socks.  The most hilarious part of these socks, I used not only the same yarn but the same colorway.

Yarn:  Lion Brand Mani Pedi
Colorway:  Mittens

The yarn striping started in two skeins with the black and in the other two skeins with the reddish orange, leading me to think it was two different color ways,  Silly me did not look at the ball band until I was halfway through the start of my Zigzagular sock as I noticed the colors were starting to look like the colors of my recently finished pair.

First pair was a plain vanilla -

The second pair was a modified version of the Zigzagular Sock pattern by Susie White.  I’ve had this pattern in my GoodReader library for a very long time and decided to give it a try.  While I love the zigzag design, I found it to be a bit tedious to knit so stopped the pattern at the ankle,

On the needles ...

I have casted on a new pair of socks and since it is a self-striping yarn I am just making a plain vanilla sock.  I am almost finished with the first sock and I love the colors!

Yarn:  Patons Kroy Sock
Colorway:  Eclipse Sripes

I want to cast on Caitlin Hunters lastest design,  Gloam , and purchased enough skeins of Silky Wool from my last trip to Fiber Creek up in Prescott to make it.  I love the simplicity of this design and the lightest of the Silky Wool.  I am hopeful this yarn will be a good compliment to this design.

Not too much else is happening in the crafting arena.  I am drawing and spinning wool.  My spinning has been hit and miss as I haven’t been in the mood to spin but my desire to finish what’s on my wheel  now has me spinning before work and on my lunch break.

As far as drawing, I created this little card for someone that truly needs a hug.  As posted on Instagram
... this particular card is being sent to someone who needs to know she’s not alone.  I work from home and my job entails taking calls from company associates that need help performing their daily jobs and helping their clients.  This particular call prompted me to create this card as the associate I was talking to too broke down in tears.  The tears was from stress and the challenges we are all facing in our daily lives.  I have made it my goal to send a unique hand drawn card to those I speak with that I fill need to be uplifted.  Today, I want to challenge all of you to do the same.  We have the most wonderful opportunity to offer those in need hope, kindness and love.  And remember, a random act of kindness can go a long way.  #randomactsofkindness #penandinkdrawing #bibleart #bibleverse #biblescripture

I am also still working on my little bird ⬇️

Tomorrow is August 1st, which means fall is just around the corner.  This has me feeling excited and motivated to start knitting and spinning again.  I plan to wind my yarn for my Gloam cardigan tomorrow and to finish spinning the lovely merino that is still on my wheel.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Until next time, be creative!

Hello .... I’m excited to be back!

It has been two months since I’ve blogged and a lot has happened, and even changed.  For those of you who have known me for a while know that I have a love hate relationship with social media, which means I am on again and off again on Instagram.

I decided to go back on to Instagram because I missed seeing creative people post their projects, I missed seeing photos of Kentucky and I missed interacting with others.  As far as blogging goes I will continue to share as it really is my way of keeping track of what I do and what I have done.  It’s my online journal and it’s a way for me to express myself.

So what have I been up to over the last two months ....

In June I joined the Interweave KAL and finished my Phyllotaxis Hat using my stash of Tusken Knits Cabin DK in the color Doune.  This was a fun knit and I love my hat!

I recently started a pair of vanilla cuff down socks using my stash of Lion Brand Mani Pedi yarn in the color Mittens.  One sock is finished and the mate is almost finished.  These will be short socks and not matching... yes, I am setting aside my obsession of having matching stripes.

I have also been scrapbooking, which I haven’t done in years.  I love scrapbooking, it’s a wonderful way to remember fun times and good memories and I have so many photos that I need to sort through and complete pages before I forget dates and places.

I am even doing pages of my handspun

I also have been drawing, which have missed, and have been sharing what I have finished on Instagram.  I am also spinning but not as much as I should be.  On wheel right now is a gorgeous merino wool from Wound Up Fiber Arts in the color Nest Egg It’s buttery soft and the colors are so beautiful!  I really love spinning on my Schacht Flatiron, it spins so heavenly.

So this is just a snippet of what I’ve been up too and  I do hope to be more consistent about posting here, as well as on Instagram.

Until next time, be creative!
